Journey of Becoming: An African Retreat for Women Physicians, April 2026

An 8-night transformational retreat for women physicians

Step into the wild soul of Africa and return braver, clearer, and more alive.

Dates: April 24 – May 1, 2026
Length: 8 nights / 7 full retreat days
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa & Botswana’s wild Tuli Block

Why Africa, Why Now

Africa is where I’ve felt the most presence, the deepest connection to being human. After traveling all over the world, no other place has awakened me in the same way. There is a soul, an energy here, that changes you. I’m inviting a small circle of women physicians to step outside of comfort and into the wild — to unravel who you are, why you are here, and who you are becoming.

Why the Tuli Block in Botswana

I chose Botswana’s Tuli Block for this retreat because it embodies everything I love about Africa — its soul, its wildness, its remoteness. This is big cat and elephant country — where lions roar at night, leopards stalk the trees, and herds of elephants move across the land. Here you’ll find vast skies, dramatic landscapes, and some of the most mesmerizing game viewing in all of Africa.

The Tuli Block is still off the main tourist circuits, which means you’ll experience the bush in its raw authenticity. It’s a place that grounds you, awakens you, and connects you to the rhythms of life in a way few other places can.

Wildlife Highlights

The Tuli Block is alive with some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife. This is a land of contrasts — vast skies, rocky outcrops, ancient baobab trees, and the pulse of animals moving freely through it all.

  • Elephants: Herds moving with the steady, ancient gait that grounds the land — the Tuli Block is home to some of the highest elephant densities in Africa.

  • Big cats: Lions roaming with confidence, leopards resting in the trees, and cheetahs coursing the open land — alongside the thrill of knowing spotted hyenas and even wild dogs may be near.

  • Other wildlife: Giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, kudu, and smaller antelope like klipspringers weaving through the mopane woodlands and sandstone cliffs.

  • Birdlife: With more than 350 species recorded, from the flash of lilac-breasted rollers and bee-eaters to the commanding call of fish eagles and the grace of soaring raptors.

  • Night skies: With almost no light pollution, when the moon gives way, the Milky Way blazes overhead — a nightly reminder of how small and infinite we are.

Every drive, every walk, every quiet moment in camp offers the chance to witness something extraordinary.

For six unforgettable days, join a small circle of women physicians in the wild landscapes of Africa for exponential growth in both your personal and professional life.

Anchored by the rhythm of daily game walks and game drives, enriched by fireside conversations and guided reflection, you’ll reconnect with your “why,” lean into courage, and step into a renewed sense of clarity and purpose.
